Evelyn Krape has 30 years diverse acting experience in Theatre, Film and television. She won the Best Actress Award for her role as ‘Nellie Melba’ in Jack Hibberd’s play “ A Toast to Melba”. Her one woman show ‘Female Parts’ was a major success & was awarded the 1993 Green Room Award for Best Actress in Musical theatre for her performance in “Ginger” for Playbox.
Evelyn has performed for the MTC, Playbox, 11th Hour, Victoria Opera Company & Shakespeare in the Park.
Her television apperances include the ABC’s Australia you’re standing in it, Flying Doctors, Blue heelers, Bastard Boys, Greeks on the Roof to name but a few.
“Dimboola”, “The Sound of One Hand Clapping” and the voice of “The Old Ewe” in the award winning “Babe” 1 &2 are a selection of her film credits.
Also in 2012 Evelyn was in the TV series Laid and the film Vessel.
In 2011 Evelyn appeared at the International Yiddish Theatre Festival in Montreal in a group devised show Ek Velt, which was performed to great acclaim in Melbourne in 2012. Ek Velt was also performed in Israel and New York in 2015.
Lois Ellis and Evelyn Krape have worked together since 1982, most notably with ”Female Parts” by Dario Fo and Franka Rame and the award winning production “Ginger”, which was a group devised show. They have worked on many theatrical collaborations of which ”More Female Parts”, is the latest. It was performed in March 2014 and had a Melbourne Metropolitan tour in 2015.
Evelyn has performed with 11th Hour in many award winning productions, including The Crucible, King John and Endgame in 2008, 2010 and in Enniskillen, Ireland in 2013.
Evelyn appeared in the award winning Malthouse production Hello, Goodbye and Happy Birthday during the Melbourne International Festival in October 2014.
In May and June 2015 Evelyn performed her one woman show MORE FEMALE PARTS at the Fairfax Theatre, Arts Centre and toured to metropolitan Melbourne. In June 2015, she also toured to New York with her theatre troupe, Zaftik, in EK VELT, for the International Jewish festival, KulturfestNYC.
In October 2016, TELLING TALES-Elders Serving Up A Smorgasbord of Life was presented at the Hawthorn Arts Centre as part of Seniors week.
Evelyn will tour Nationally with the award winning Malthouse show HELLO, GOODBYE and HAPPY BIRTHDAY in 2017.
